Programme Aims
課程宗旨

The university offers a wide range of fashion specialist BA (Hons) programmes including fashion image, fashion photography, fashion styling and fashion journalism, amongst others. The BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion and Imaging (FPI) course is a potential next step for students graduated from HD diploma courses in Fashion Image Design, and Fashion Branding and Buying.

Aligned with the contemporary creative industry, the course teaches the intellectual, practical and professional skills that students need to succeed in a career in promotion and communication for the global fashion industry. There will be opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of research, experimentation and realization, as well as new practices and innovations within fashion promotion, communication and image generation, including fashion film.

BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion and Imaging is a dynamic course that encourages a balance of skills in the subject of fashion communication. Students have the opportunity to work essentially on the styling and photography specialism, and projects can be tailored to the following pathways:

• Fashion Styling & Photography - Styling / Photography / Art Direction

• Fashion Promotion - Marketing / PR / Trend prediction

• Fashion Visual Communication - Graphics / Film / Print

The Pathway specialisms support the student in focusing in one particular area of the industry, while keeping a broad visual outlook on Fashion Promotion as a holistic subject area. This flexibility allows for an exciting course, with a focus on creativity, skills, innovation and professionalism which reaps rewards for students in terms of employability, providing the next generation of fashion practitioners across a wide range of creative disciplines.

Embedded in the School of Fashion at UCA, the course’s unique selling point is the image making specialism which works within the areas of graphics, film and printmaking. The practical nature of FPI encourages students’ full participation in the course as it inevitably leads to engaging in industry. Increased participation and engagement with industry is likely to increase students’ chances of gaining employment at the end of the course. Due to the broad approach we can reflect current practice in industry and support our students in their requirements for future employment. We are proud of our alumni and invite graduates to talk about their experiences as well as showcasing their portfolios and encouraging opportunities with current students.

Lecturers on the Fashion Promotion and Imaging course are all involved in practice within the industry. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge about current industry practice as well as giving the course the dynamism that inevitably drives its pace in the ever-changing nature of Fashion Communication.
